In town Friday? Join us for dinner at the synagogue at 6PM, Catered by Nancy Laist - menu is taken from favorites from Betty Goldberg's (a.k.a mom/Grandma) Chinese Kosher Cooking. Following dinner will be services, in which America will assist in leading. Services run from 7PM-8PM.
What to wear?
Friday night services: Fairly relaxed attire - jeans are OK, as is business casual, however please no t-shirts or sweat pants.
For the Bat Mitzvah Saturday: Guests generally wear dressy clothes — for men, either a suit or slacks, tie, and jacket, and for women, a dress or separates.
When to arrive?
The time on the invitation is the formal start time of the service, so be sure to arrive a few minutes before, allowing time for parking and schmoozing.
What to expect?
The service will begin promptly at 10:00 and last for about an hour and a half. There will be readings, prayers, and songs! America will be leading quite a bit of the service and will be reading in Hebrew from the Torah and will deliver a short sermon about the portion she read from the Torah, When the service is over, we will adjourn to the social hall where we will sing the kiddush, which is the blessing over wine, in the form of a short song & then the motzi - both recited just before the meal..
The celebration will take place in the social hall at the synagogue, where we will enjoy each others company, wonderful food, drinks and the sounds of Klezmer music that will delight your senses.
